Dr. McQueen currently works as a veterinarian at Levan Road Veterinary Hospital. She has fourteen years experience in the field of veterinary medicine, specifically in shelter medicine and private practice small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. McQueen knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age because she has always been fascinated with animals, but she didn’t realize her dream right away. She first earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. She worked in the business field for eight years and then, realizing it wasn’t her passion, she decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Michigan State University.
Dr. McQueen loves being a veterinarian because it allows her to make a difference in the world while helping animals and people in need. She enjoys seeing the strength of the human-animal bond between her patients and their caregivers, and feels honored to be part of fostering that bond.
Always up-to-date with the development of veterinary medicine on a local, national and international scale, Dr. McQueen regularly participates in continuing education opportunities and is an active member of SEMVMA www.semvma.com, MVMA www.michvma.org, AVMA www.avma.org and AAHA www.aahanet.org. She has an interest in alternative veterinary medicine, and received her acupuncture certification in 2011. Dr. McQueen is especially gratified when she can improve a pet's quality of life through acupuncture and alternative medicine avenues.
A Michigan native and graduate of Saline High School, she now resides in Livonia with her husband, Rick, their two children, Adam and Connor, and their dog, Harley.
